​This course covers diverse variables impacting the living, studying and working in Ilmenau, and Germany in general. From settling in a new room to university graduation till getting the right job, the course will provide the students with the knowledge, resources and other reuirements. Topics are for instance:
- cultural orientations (e.g. dealing with time, space or with authority)
- cultural differences (e.g. deadlines, punctuality, plans and sense of time)
- Misunderstandings or culture-related conflicts / strategies for avoiding them
- Reflection on one's own imprint
- Stereotypes and prejudices
- Communication (e.g. dealing with unsaid rules, breaking rules, criticism).
- Explain the assessment and grading system
